Wheels & Tyres
Wheels, or rims are measured in inches and the current trends mean big is best. 16in and 17in are the bare minimum and you should go higher if you can afford it. There are plenty of brands out there to choose from. The top manufacturers include BBS, Oz, Mille Miglia, Compomotive, Momo and Speedline. These rims are very high quality and this is reflected in their price. If your working to a tighter budget check out TSW, Wolfrace, Kosei, League, BK Racing and many more. Remember the bigger the rims, the more work you'll have to do to get them under the arches. That means rolling the arches or cutting back the arch liners to avoid scrubbing. TYRES The rubber you wrap your rims in is crucial. A low profile tyre with a trick tread pattern will make your car look smarter and your rims look huge. Bare in mind, the wider the tyre is the more likely it is to catch on the arch liners. Also check whether the side of the tyre is flat or whether it slopes away. The more it slopes, the less arch work you will have to do to get them on. Top tyre manufacturers include: Yokohama, Falken, Toyo and Hankook. |
